Whether you have studied music for many years or have just begun your studies, you are welcome to join this group. All students learning to play any instrument and learning with a teacher are welcome to join. We also welcome those who are seriously thinking about it but would like to have support to take that first step!

Upcoming Bi-Weekly Meetings

The next meetings are:

Saturday, April 6th, 2024 at Steinway 11am-1 pm
Saturday, April 20th, 2024 on Zoom 12-2 pm
In May and June, Steinway is totally booked for teachers' studios recitals so we will try to find alternate suitable locations for in-person meetings. Stay tuned - these will be announced shortly.

Please Note: All in person meetings will take place at our venue of choice, the Calgary Piano Gallery Recital Hall, unless otherwise specified. Only group members or guests who have notified the ALMSG Leadership team of their trial visit will be allowed entry. Masks can be worn at the discretion of each member's comfort level and personal preference - please sit six feet apart from others. All in-person Steinway meetings will be Zoomed as well so that all members will be able to participate regardless of location.

Collaborations

Many of our group members are collaborating on a music piece "The Water is Wide" on the app Acapella. Kaylene is heading this project so if you want more information and/or would like to be a part of the project, please contact Kaylene. Group members are also collaborating on another project that Kathy is leading and that is "Edelweiss". Group members, please contact Kathy for details if you want to get involved.

Members' Orchestra/Band Concert Nights

Kaylene, plays in the Ambrose Arts Orchestra and the date of her next orchestra concert is March 15th, 2024. Edwin Gnandt Concerto Concert featuring the winners of the annual concerto auditions. The concert takes place at Calgary First Church of the Nazarene 65 Richard Way Southwest Calgary, AB T3E 7M8 Tickets available at the door or on Eventbrite: $20 for adults/$15 for students/seniors. (Please google Edwin Gnandt Concert 2024 as I am not able to post the Eventbrite link here.)

Congratulations to Alan on being asked to perform at the APTA showcase concert. (Alan is not attending however as he already has plans that night.)

The North York Music Festival runs April 5-28, 2024. The registration for virtual entries opens Mar 1 and ends April 1st. Video entries must be submitted by April 1st to be considered.

Community Service Events

Sandra is an AHS patient support - musician volunteer. She plays at the McCAig Tower weekly on Fridays 1-2 pm on the Boston Grand piano on the ground floor.
